I understand my parents when they pass by a place they used to frequent and see how much it has changed. That's how I feel when I see that the facades of the bodegas/colmado have been changing. How can we change without losing the essence of what is ours? As we modernize, there are things that may be simpler, but what makes us different is being lost.

The bodegas used to be hand painted with different colors; now that most of them are sponsored by brands, they all have the same color, so they all tend to look alike. Also, the signs are no longer hand painted; they are made with a plastic material, which I understand can be durable and look more modern.

Although the bodega will always be a bodega despite the modernization, I want to document it so that in the future there will be a memory of how they used to be.
